Dry Feb
About Dry Feb
Dry Feb is a fundraiser that challenges you to go alcohol-free in February, and raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. It helps you get healthy while also raising funds to make a difference for Canadians affected by cancer.
Does one month off alcohol sound too big of a challenge? This year, we are introducing a new option called ‘Dry(ish) Feb’, where you can choose to get involved in a way that suits you. Choose to participate for the whole month, 21 days, 14 days, or customize a timeframe that works for you.
How it all works
Step 1
Sign-up to the challenge and choose how long you will be participating
Step 2
Go alcohol-free in February
Step 3
Ask family, friends and colleagues to sponsor you
Step 4
Help people affected by cancer
Proceeds from Dry Feb will benefit the Canadian Cancer Society to fund groundbreaking research and provide a national support system for people affected by cancer, such as online and phone-based peer support programs including CancerConnection.ca which gives those with cancer, and their caregivers, a place where they can share their experiences and build supportive relationships.
Giving up alcohol for a month is a small sacrifice to make to help people affected by cancer, and the good news is that it will benefit you too!
Taking part in Dry Feb also gives you the chance to focus on yourself – you’ll notice your own drinking habits and the value of a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
The sobering news is that any type or amount of alcohol increases your cancer risk. In fact, if more Canadians limit their alcohol intake, we could prevent about 44,300 cancer cases by 2042.
Having a month off alcohol also has other great health benefits, such as sleeping better, having more energy and of course, no hangovers! So you're not only helping others, you're helping yourself. It's a win-win!
